The Danger of a Single Story
What is the danger of a single story? With this unit, students will focus on this inquiry question, which will be the inquiry question that guides our entire year in room 316. We will come back to this idea unit to unit. Students will explore stereotypes and apply them to their own lives, as well as how they play a role in shaping our views of other countries and cultures, with a focus on Africa. This mini-unit will start us off before we delve into our African Short Story unit-- Africa being the first continent we visit in this World Literature class. The IB-MYP key concept is perspective and the global context is identities and relationships.
