Our first week went well, and all classes dived into the A Long Way Gone project, finishing the week with a multiple choice test over the summer reading. This week was all about us getting used to each other and the way I run my classroom. I want to focus on organization this year for my students, so I hope that all students got their notebooks together because there will be a notebook check coming up soon. Being organized is key to Sophomore year, here at BTW. With classes beginning to get even more challenging, clubs and organizations to join and participate in, and a social life to be had, it is so important to learn the skills to manage their time This up coming week with English II, we will begin our single story and African Literature unit. Make sure those projects are turned in on time tomorrow. My PREAPs, we will begin reading "Cell One" -- one of my favorite stories of the year. Don't forget, my PREAPs, that your single story paragraph is due tomorrow. A couple of dates to remember -- September 9 is Back to School night for parents. I cannot wait to meet your parents. I am looking forward to a fun week.
